Фонд, состоящий из вкладов в самые различные ценные бумаги - обычно в инвестиционные сертификаты (investment bonds), паевые трасты (unit trusts) или в сберегательные паевые кассы, фонды (см.: unit-linked policy (страховой полис, связанный с паевым фондом)) - и управляемый компанией страхования жизни, с тем чтобы обеспечить мелким инвесторам вложения с малой степенью риска. Руководители фонда (jund managers) имеют заявленную/определенно сформулированную инвестиционную политику, отдающую предпочтение определенным видам капиталовложений.
